The Crown Chakra
What are the chakras?
Each week I have provided information on one chakra. So far, I have discussed what are the seven chakras and the previous six chakras. This post is on the crown chakra, the seventh chakra.
According to my yoga teachings, I understand within the physical body are the chakras. There are seven total located in a straight line from the top of your head to the base of your spin. The chakras cannot be seen with the physical eye, but we know they exist (similar to experiencing emotions you cannot see). The chakras operate as spinning wheels of energy. They help regulate the nervous system, major organs, cells, and emotional health.
For an extended conversation on the seven chakras be sure to view my previous post.
Why should you work on improving your chakras?
From a metaphysical perspective: our emotional and physical bodies are one. Any type of disease is a sign that the energy in that chakra system is off. When a chakra is blocked for some reason, the energy is prevented from going to the area it is intended to nurture. As a result, the cells, tissues, or organs in the specific area will suffer.
What is the crown chakra and how does it function?
The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and is located in the middle of the head ( pineal gland). This chakra is significant because it provides energy to all the chakras. Here is where we experience oneness with the divine source!
What is associated with the crown chakra?
Color: white/violet
Main principle: Purity ones. This is where you receive life force energy and give energy back. This is the intersection of the finite (the body and the ego) and infinite (the universe and soul).
Gland: pineal
History: religious paintings as a halo over the head.
sanskrit: sahasrara which means “ thousand”
Element: this chakra is pure free-flowing energy that transcends the physical body therefore it's not associated with any element.
Balanced Crown chakra
The extent of development for the crown chakra depends on the development of the other six chakras. A completely awakened crown chakra radiates its energy instead of absorbing it. This is depicted in the paintings of Jesus with a halo or crown above his head. As you begin to open your crown chakra you may notice you are more calm and optimistic about life. You realize your connection to the one divine source and experience larger-than-life moments frequently.
Underactive crown chakra
Your crown chakra may be underactive if you are not using enough of this energy. Since this chakra gives energy to the other chakras you will experience imbalances with other chakras if the crown chakra is closed. Therefore our chakras will never develop to their full potential because the energies will not vibrate in harmony! The overall effect manifests as feeling separated from wholeness and abundance. Never experience a life free of fear!
Common characteristics:
Feeling a lack of purpose and uncertainty
Closing yourself off from spiritual truths
Limiting yourself from your full potential for self-development
The constant fear of death
overactive
Awareness of how senseless your life is
Escaping into activities that keep you busy
Stress yourself with new or too much responsibilities
Life rooted in superficiality
The physical manifestation of this person may develop sickness and miss out on opportunities.
Tips to help balance your crown chakra
The higher chakras ( third eye and crown) are usually activated through spiritual development.
Consistent meditation practice: Find a space alone far away from your earthly cares and personal life. The space should give you a sense of space and boundlessness. The best music is silence.
Meditation exercise:
Sit erect or lay on your back with your palms facing up. Put your attention on the pineal gland in the center of your head.
Visualize the color violet-pink
Chant the sound “AUM” 7x
Pause and repeat the sound in your head 7x
Pause then out loud repeat the sound “AUM” 7X should in a humming sound.
I recommend practicing this exercise twice a day.
The best solution to balancing your chakras is diligent consistent work. As your chakras open your vision will become clear. Other dimensions will open and you will act from a place of inclusivity and not self-interest. As your higher chakras ( third eye and crown) open your lower temptations may become more demanding. I pray you remain steadfast and continue to grow!
Remember to govern your emotions, your thoughts are the master of the mind. You control where you focus your attention and energy!
